For ISA Wuhan International School, the lB Diploma is the final phase of learning offered at our school. We have selected the |B Diploma as our final programme, because of the strong alignment to the vision, mission, and educational values of the lB to that of lSA International Education Group. These values include a focus upon language learning, ensuring that students are provided rigor and challenge across a broad programme and finally, that we are providing our students with the most internationally recognized and rigorous programme. This provision ensures that our students have access to outstanding learning opportunities, which lay a foundation for future success as adults anywhere in the world. International research shows that there are many benefits to choosing the DP over the other 16-19 curricula. For example: DP students are better able than their peers to cope with demanding workloads, manage their time and meet the expectations placed on them. Analysis of DP students in Canada, the UK and the USA found that the DP’s extended essay improves students’ approach to learning in higher education. 72% of students taking the DP in China attend one of the world’s top 500 universities.
The lB Diploma Program is a challenging two-year pre-university curriculum, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19. It leads to a qualification (the lB diploma) that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities. The curriculum contains six subject groups together with the DP core: creativity, activity, service (CAS)the extended essay (EE); and theory of knowledge (TOK). This is illustrated by the below Diploma Program model.

lBDP courses are challenging, particularly at higher level. As such, in selecting a programme of study, students should ensure that they have a background of success in a subject area, most particularly for Higher Level selections. Students must select six courses from a minimum of five of the subject groups. Groups 1,34 and 5 are compulsory areas to select courses, Students either select an option from Group 6 or another option from Groups 2,3 and 4 At least three subjects must be at higher level. Four subjects at higher level is possible but not required and there is no additional benefit in terms of final points allocation Three standard level subjects must be selected. Two standard level subjects is possible, if four Higher Level courses are chosen The lBDP Core elements are compulsory for all Diploma students.
All IB courses, Hl and SL, are graded on the IB:7: Excellent,6: Very good,5: Good,4: Satisfactory,3: Mediocre,2: Poor,1: Very poor
